"Branch Out" is where you will find all of our unique offerings that are not part of our regular program line up. 

Sometimes these prgroams are geared towards family participation, other times they are a child only experience. 


Through a dynamic array of activities, workshops, and community engagements we will sample a regular rotation of innovative, hands-on experiences. These are crafted to spark curiosity, promote sustainability, and instill a sense of stewardship towards nature in the hearts of our young participants and their families.


Each class in our series is a unique adventure, offering hands-on exploration, creativity, and connection with nature. From enchanting wildlife studies to imaginative arts and nature crafts, our carefully crafted sessions ensures that every day is a journey of discovery.


We're thrilled to unveil a fresh addition to our program lineup under "Branch Out!" – a captivating four-part series designed specifically for curious minds aged 5 and above. This unique program brings together children with passionate nature enthusiasts from our community to embark on full-day adventures that promise both fun and learning.

Here's what your young explorer can look forward to:

  • Week 1 (Feb. 7): Birding Adventure - Dive into the fascinating world of birds and learn to identify them by sight and sound.

  • Week 2 (Feb. 14): The Magic of Maple - Discover the sweet secrets behind maple syrup production and the wonders of maple trees.

  • Week 3 (Feb. 21): Tracking Treasures - Become a nature detective, learning to track and understand the hidden stories of local wildlife.

  • Week 4 (Feb. 28): Shelter Building Skills - Master the art of creating shelters using natural materials, an essential skill for any outdoor enthusiast.

Each session is designed to offer a hands-on, immersive experience in the great outdoors, fostering a deep connection with nature and sparking a lifelong passion for environmental stewardship.

"Gone to the Birds"

Join us for a full day (9:00am-3:00pm) program with a twist.  The fine folks from Gilligallou Bird will share their knowlegde and passion for all things feathered.  We will take a wander through the forest, use our senses to discover which bird species winter in our area.

We will spend a portion of the morning with Gilligallou,  and the rest of our day immersed in play and our new found knowledge.

The magic of maple

This week we will spend some time with Emily, our friend from Fulton's Sugar Bush, where she will share share with us the joy in making and tasting maple taffy. 

We will spend a portion of the morning with Emily, and the rest of our day immersed in play with our new found knowledge.

Tracking the Wild

Bob Volks, from Gilligallou will be back again this week. This time we will have our eyes on the ground in search of tracks.  

We will spend a portion of the morning learning about tracks, and the rest of our day immersed in play with our new found knowledge.

Nature Knowledge Series

Shelter Building

There are so many ideas for where this day may lead. We may try our hand at a lean-to, or an A-frame, or maybe the snow will be perfect for a quinzee. Where ever the day leads us, we will be guided through the process of finding the right material, location and strategy for buidling a shelter.

This is a full day program (9:00am-3:00pm), with time allocated to our shelters.
