Casual/Supply Educator

Position Title: Casual/Supply Educator

Start Date: Immediately

Pay Range: $19.50 - $22.00 per hour (based on experience)

Shift Hours: Depending on need

About Us

Wild Child Nature Project is a small nature-rooted organization whose focus is to connect children and families with nature and the outdoors. We accomplish this through a variety of programs that offer regular and repeated time on the land in the Beckwith, Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills area.  We recognize that children are competent, capable and curious, and offer a child-centered approach to learning and playing that follows the child's natural curiosity and is supported by our education team.  We nurture gratitude, kindness, and an appreciation of our diverse community and environment each day we play together.  Our days are spent mostly outdoors, in all seasons.


Ideal Candidate Qualifications 

  • Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent. We value lived experiences and passion. 

  • Be passionate about educating and caring for children outdoors. 

  • Have a warm, caring, and compassionate way with children

  • Appreciation of nature and being outdoors

  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and all seasons.

  • Respect and openness to broaden your learning in order to help meet the needs of all children, both individually and as a group

  • CPR and First Aid training and a clear Police Vulnerable Sectors Check

  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.



  • Previous Forest School experience

  • Knowledge of and experience with neurodivergence 

  • Understanding of and comfort with social media content creation and editing


Job Description

  • Work alongside co-educators and small groups of children (aged 2.5-8) through our nature-rooted programs

  • Support the needs of each child in program

  • Ensure the safety of children at all times

  • Communicate effectively, and regularly with staff, and as needed with care providers 

  • Build meaningful connections with children, their families/caregivers and the WCNP team

  • Perform daily risk assessments 

  • Support the day to day operations of the program


We are looking to fill two casual/supply positions, with the potential for summer employment and future part time hours in the fall.  Our current programs run between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.
